Marcia Buck, PharmD, James Dice, PharmD, Helen Fiechtner, PharmD, and Kay Kyllonen, PharmD were inducted as Fellows in the Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group (FPPAG) at the 18th Annual Meeting in Cleveland, Ohio.

In past years, it was recommended that children in certain age groups and with certain medical conditions receive the influenza vaccine. For the 2009-2010 influenza season, however, the ACIP recommends that ALL children, aged 6 months – 18 years, receive the vaccine. The ACIP does note that, although all children should receive the vaccine, certain groups at high-risk for influenza complications should be targeted.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has recently modified its recommendations for use of palivizumab (Synagis) for prevention of RSV infection. The updated AAP recommendations are based on review of the most recent data. They seek to optimize the balance between identifying infants mostly likely to derive benefit and minimizing the cost of palivizumab therapy.

Recently, the PPAG Board of Directors conducted a survey which sought input from members regarding two key topics: (1) a possible name change for the association, and (2) the structure of our live continuing education conferences.
