THE EDUCATION PROGRAM. 100% VIRTUAL. TWO-MEETINGS-IN-ONE.
COVID-19 UPDATE:
The 29th Annual PPA Meeting is going virtual! We have been closely monitoring the CDC and WHO reports regarding the spread of COVID-19. Our Board of Directors has met and based on considerations for individual health, public health, and the financial health of our association, we believe that change to a virtual format for our 29th Annual Meeting is the most appropriate course of action. While the schedule of events and delivery methods for the meeting have changed, we will still provide our core educational content in hematology, oncology, and neonatal intensive care from April 29-May 3, 2020. We will also be conducting an online/virtual poster session and residency presentations. Over the coming weeks you will be receiving more information about the virtual conference.
Thank you all for your ongoing contributions and passion for PPA. Although these are challenging times, we are enthusiastic about our upcoming conference, and look forward to “seeing” you there! We appreciate your patience and understanding!
Structured with the adult learner in mind, the Conference offers over 150 programs that will interest clinicians, pharmacy leaders and administrators, pharmacy informatics professionals, residents, students, and academics. Most importantly, the Annual Conference is designed by pediatric pharmacists for pediatric pharmacists! The Conference offers participants the ability to earn 25+ ACPE accredited continuing education hours and up to 10 BPS-approved BCPPS recertification units.
The 29th Annual PPA Meeting features two focused educational blocks:
April 29-May 1: Hematology/Oncology Focus
May 1 : PPA Bridge Day (Award Presentations, Poster Presentations, Town Hall)
May 1-3: NICU Focus
MEMBER-DRIVEN, CROWD-SOURCED
The content of the PPA Annual Meeting is literally sourced by our members, who submit proposals for session to be considered by the Conference Planning Committee.
Agenda-at-a-Glance: The official time zone of the Annual Conference is Eastern US
(as of 04/03/2020, subject to change)
BCPPS RECERTIFICATION
PPA offers a BCPPS Recertification program, approved Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS). The PPA-sponsored BCPPS Recertification Program offers a multi-faceted approach which includes numerous exposure options for each domain during the seven-year recertification cycle allowing for the expansion of the participants’ knowledge base while providing up-to-date patient care and management education. The goal of the PPA-BCPPS program is to offer pediatric pharmacists educational content most relevant to your practice area. BCPPS courses will be designated on the schedule with the PPA-University logo.
The 2020 Annual Meeting offers 5 recertification units in Hematology/Oncology and 5 recertification units in NICU. Please see the agenda for more information
ANNUAL POSTER SESSION
PPA will host a Virtual Poster Session at the Annual Meeting on Friday, May 1, 2020. Poster Presentations are informal discussions of current projects or programs in pharmacy practice with meeting attendees. It is your opportunity to share original research or successful programs that have worked in pediatric healthcare systems, and to pick up ideas from others.
More information about the Virtual Poster session will be sent to all poster presenters via email.
RESIDENCY PROJECT PRESENTATIONS
The Bruce Parks Memorial Pediatric Pharmacy Residency Project Showcase was established in 2006. Since its inception, the program has grown from 12 participants to over 150 participants this year (2020). The Showcase seeks to stimulate interest in the field of pediatric pharmacy by offering an opportunity to present residency projects at the Annual Meeting each year. It is designed to provide pharmacy residents and fellows with an opportunity to make formal presentations of their projects or research in a relaxed professional setting, discuss clinical or administrative case experiences, have open forum discussions, meet leaders in pediatric pharmacy, and broaden relationships with other residents and fellows. In order to be eligible to participate in the Showcase, you must be a resident in a pediatric setting. Pediatric practitioners will evaluate each presentation and provide feedback to each participant.
Revised Residency Presentation Schedule (all times eastern): as of 04/14/2020

PPA STUDENT GROUP SHOWCASE
During the virtual Student Conference, PPA Student Groups will be able to highlight their activities during the Student Group Showcase (posters). Please refer to the revised schedule for more information.
Participation in the Showcase allows Student Groups to: (1) get know students from other chapters/groups; (2) highlight awesome initiative or projects conducted this year; (3) share ideas and strategies between chapters; and (4) learn from the successes and mistakes of other groups. The Showcase is a lot fun and serves as a great way to make connections with other students to share ideas, wisdom, and tips for creating a successful PPA Student Group. If you are a new chapter or one that has yet to get any huge initiatives off the ground, that’s okay! We encourage all Student Groups to present a poster.
