Position Description:

The Department of Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track position in pediatrics at the rank of Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will contribute to a partnership in which College of Pharmacy faculty share responsibilities for clinical practice in UF Health Shands Hospital and contribute to the teaching mission of the College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching; service to the College of Pharmacy, Hospital, and the pharmacy profession; scholarly activity; and maintaining a successful clinical pharmacy practice. Clinical practice responsibilities will account for 70% of the total effort.  The successful candidate will report to the Chair of the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research with clinical reporting responsibility to the Director of Pharmacy or designee in the UF Health Shands Department of Pharmacy.

The successful applicant will have strong skills to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care to pediatric ICU patients and foster interdisciplinary collaboration to optimize drug therapy and prevent adverse medication events. UF Health Shands is a nationally recognized academic medical center located in beautiful Gainesville, Florida. UF Health Shands Hospital provides diverse and comprehensive patient care services including pediatric, critical care, hematology/oncology, neurosurgical, cardiovascular, and general medicine services.  UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital is a hospital within a hospital on the main campus. It represents the only tertiary academic pediatric center in North Central Florida containing. UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital contains a 24-bed general Pediatric ICU as well as a 23-bed dedicated Pediatric Cardiothoracic Intensive Care/Intermediate Care Unit (ICU/IMC) devoted to the care of children for our Congenital Heart Center (CHC).

Minimum Requirements: The applicant should have a PharmD degree with 2 years of post-graduate training (residency, fellowship, or equivalent experience in pediatrics). Florida licensure will be required. Excellent teaching and communication skills are essential. FDLE Criminal Background Check Required.

Preferred Qualifications: Successful completion of a PGY2 residency or fellowship in pediatrics is preferred. Applicants who recently completed a PGY2 residency are strongly encouraged to apply. Previous teaching experience, demonstrated scholarship, and experience in mentoring students and/or residents is preferred.
