Association Staff Leadership 

Matthew R. Helms, MA, CAE
Executive Director
Matt Helms has been the Executive Director of the Pediatric Pharmacy Association since November 2003. Matt directs all day-to-day operations of PPA. He provides direction and policy interpretation to volunteer leadership; recommending and managing the annual budget, managing all aspects of membership services, developing new services, coordinating continuing education programs and special events, and soliciting sponsorships, grants, and donations.

Matt earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science (history minor) from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a Master of Arts in Executive Leadership from Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee. Prior to joining PPA, Matt served as the Managing Editor of the Journal of Pediatric Pharmacology and Therapeutics, the official Journal of PPA. He also worked at the University of Tennessee, Health Science Center in Memphis and interned at Presidential Classroom in Washington, DC. 
Since 2004 Matt has been a member of the ASAE & the Center for Association Leadership and the Tennessee Society of Association Executives (TNSAE). He served on Board of Directors of TNSAE (2009-15), Memphis Challenge (2009-13), and the Shelby County TN Head Start (2011-13). He served as Chair of the TNSAE Communications Committee is 2009-10 and as President in 2014. Matt was named to Memphis Business Journal's Top 40 under 40 in 2011.

Matt serves as the staff liaison to the Board of Directors, Membership Committee, Finance Committee, Advocacy Committee, Drug Development Committee, Research Committee, and all standing Awards Committees.
